The family of Melissa Palacios, a student murdered in July 2021, held a protest in Guatemala City. They demanded that the case against the accused of the crime be transferred to a higher-risk court in the capital of the country, citing irregularities in the judicial process.
Melissa's relatives expressed their frustration over the lack of progress in the case and demanded justice for the young woman who was murdered. They believe that authorities must do everything possible to clarify the facts and bring those responsible to justice.
During the protest, Melissa's family stated that they are willing to go to the last consequences to ensure that justice is served in the case. They emphasized the importance of the judicial process being carried out transparently and ensuring impartiality in the trial.
"We will continue fighting for Melissa and for all the victims of violence in the country. We will not rest until justice is served and the facts are clarified," stated a family member during the demonstration.
